Welcome to Second Grade
It is going to be a great one! I am so excited to be able to share this time with your family. I promise to love and protect your child while they are at school. I will do my best to make sure your child feels safe, cared for, and loved. My goal is to help your child reach his/her highest potential on our journey this year. Below are things to keep in mind as we continue throughout the year.
Snack – Each day your child will have a snack time. Therefore, try to pack a small snack that he/she can enjoy during that time. You may also choose to send your child to school with a water bottle.
Homework – Second graders will have homework Monday-Thursday. Your child should be writing his/her homework in the planner each day. Our homework is typically the same each week. Reading homework is to read at least 15 minutes each night. Please have your child write the name of the book he/she read in the planner. Math homework will be the same from now until around Christmas break. Your child will be responsible for learning his/her addition and subtraction facts. Each Friday, your child will take a timed math fact quiz. Your child will have two minutes to answer 20 addition or subtraction facts. Homework is subject to change.
Planners – Your child should bring home his/her planner each night, except Fridays. Your child should have his/her homework written in the planner. Please sign your name in the planner each night. This will let me know that you see your child’s planner each night. The planner will also be the place that I will attach or include notes concerning your child. This is an easy way for us to communicate.
Webpage –My page will have a link for the week’s homework assignments. My webpage will also be a place to find important dates and reminders.
I am looking forward to working with your child this year! I know we will have a great time together. If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to call or email me.
